I am officially the maid of honor at my cousin’s upcoming wedding this late summer, which means chic pink, pink, pink bridesmaids! Should I have gotten the job for a winter wedding, on the other hand, I think a gray glam winter wonderland theme would have been perfection. Gray, it seems, has become the go-to color for snow-bound nuptials. Instead of going for a basic silver pump and some iced out silver jewelry, opt for some glamorous tones to liven the look up. Start with this gorgeous Weddington Way bridesmaid dress and add in a Swarovski crystal-covered heel. Then balance the nearly off-the-shoulder gathered straps with statement colored stone ear cuffs and break up the gray with an Edie Parker clutch (the most solid dressy bag standby these days!). Once you’ve added a fun metallic eye, finish the look off with a Tom Ford bold lip and don’t look back! What is it about a winter wonderland full of cold and snow that gives way to such a fabulous amount of GLAM?
Renee is wearing a Fur Hat c/o Jocelyn, Helmut Lang Coat, Emporio Armani Turtleneck Sweater, Rag & Bone Jeans, Marc Jacobs Vegas Bag, Giuseppe Zanotti Combat Boots.
There’s a serious cold front hitting New York, and it’s making me want to stay inside every day, curled up in bed. When I finally get myself out the door, I definitely depend on this Helmut Lang coat and Jocelyn hat to keep me warm (plus a pair of Uniqlo heattech leggings underneath my jeans—trust me, they are a must buy). The little bear ears on the Jocelyn hat add an instant cute factor to every outfit—much needed in this dreary weather! I threw these on when heading out the door for a quick trek through Central Park with Rebecca last weekend. The ice and snow were keeping the usual crowds away, but it was a gorgeous winter wonderland in the park. Very much worth facing the freezing temps!
Clockwise from left: Mini Daenerys Targaryen Doll, Kitty Winestopper, Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Eyeshadow in Emerveille, Handmade Mittens, Garance Dore for Rifle Paper Co. Friends Social Stationary.
This Christmas I got some very chic (and worldy) accessories to wear for upcoming Wardrobe Wednesdays: fabulous handmade mittens from my mother using yarn she saved from a trip to Egypt more than 30 years ago(!) and a fabulous scarf direct from my friend Amanda’s recent trip to the Middle East. To top it off, she also gave me a Chanel eyeshadow in my favorite eyeshadow color—pink! Basically nothing gets past Amanda when it comes to makeup. Thoughtfully, she decided to get me something I would actually use. Lately I have had a good luck streak when it comes to holiday gifts—most everyone has given me something that I already needed, wanted, or were pining for. A kitty-shaped wine stopper? Extremely useful, thanks mom! Gorgeous new stationary to write my distant friends across the country? Totes useful, thanks Renee! A mini Daenerys Targaryen doll? Perhaps not the most useful, but definitely necessary for my desk.
Rebecca in The View From Here
It’s been a good year for both of us. We’ve traveled a bunch (Japan, Toronto, Chicago, San Francisco, Miami, Austin, among many others), discovered some amazing new designers, indulged in many a great meal (and made some healthy ones) and even added work outs to our daily lives (who ever saw that coming?!). Looking back, here are some of our very favorite Wardrobe Wednesdays throughout 2014 – we wish all of our lovely readers a wonderful new year!
