Adrienne is a mutual friend of ours. She’s a fellow NYUer—once Renee’s roommate, now our Sunday brunchmate! She has the most amazing effortless style, coupled with a curated gallery girl outlook (“I got these pineapple earrings at a small boutique in Soho”). She’s an official Brooklyn resident now and thus, way cooler than us with her normcore Keds sneakers and enviable collection of hats. Did we also mention she has an affinity for striped sailor shirts and speaks French?
Adrienne is wearing a Mackage for Aritzia Leather Jacket, Zara Shirt, Forever 21 Jeans, Club Monaco Hat, Aritzia Wilfred Scarf, Madewell Sunglasses, Balenciaga Bag, and Keds Sneakers.

Occupation: Gallery Girl.
Location: Brooklyn in an apartment that is: always in the midst of being cleaned, decorated, or painted… a never-ending project!
Favorite restaurant: Heidi’s House for the mouthwatering date pudding.
I am visually inspired by: Mad Men, Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette, Call The Midwife, The Bletchley Circle, The Hour, The English Patient, The Big Sleep, The Philadelphia Story, and also Eva Chen’s effusive instagram!
Favorite childhood outfit: School uniforms. I hated them at the time, but now I miss the simplicity and rigor of it. So easy to dress in the morning.
Favorite Fashion Moments: The Alfred Hitchcock retro style in Michael Kors FW 2008, Kiera Knightley’s green dress in Atonement, and Gwyneth Paltrow’s white caped Tom Ford gown at the Oscars in 2012.
Beauty secret: Sleep A LOT. Also, Konjac sponges are amazing!
Signature nail polish: Essie Peep Show—limited edition at J. Crew and sadly, available no longer. It was the perfect Betty Draper pink.
Biggest splurge: My leather jacket. It’s so soft and just perfect.
I feel most confident in: That same leather jacket!
Can’t live without… magazines. It’s becoming quite the problem in my small apartment. I just can’t bear to throw them out!

Winter Brights

Renee is wearing a BCBG Max Azria Coat, Proenza Schouler Sweater, Rag & Bone Jeans, Zara Booties, Fendi Sunglasses, and Saint Laurent Duffel Bag.

It’s easy for me to fall into a depressing pattern of wearing all black all day err day, especially in the winter. This Proenza sweater gets me out of that winter slump, especially paired with my crazy colorblocked Fendi sunnies! I think this little graffiti guy we stumbled across in the East Village is into it too.

Rebecca is wearing a Saks Fifth Avenue Puffer Coat, Zara Leggings, Celine Box Bag, Gap Socks, Inkkas Blackbird High Top Sneakers.
It is pretty cold and miserable right now in New York and refuse to wear anything but a warm puffer. This one is actually Saks brand, and I think it kind of makes me look like an astronaut. Well, with Gravity and Interstellar, it seems astronauts are in right now, so I’m down! I always like adding in my silver Celine box bag because it just enhances the idea. It holds my tools to reboot the engines should we have a malfunction. I guess my Inkkas bring me back down to earth—with these new holiday extra warm Gap socks I tried to channel an updated, hipster version of the eighties “bunchy sock” look with leggings. Have I succeeded in all eclectic glory? Hope so!

West Village Grunge

Renee is wearing a Zara Coat, T by Alexander Wang Tee, Zara Plaid Shirt, Zara Faux Leather Leggings, Nike Sneakers, and Proenza Schouler PS1 Satchel.

I might be using the sneaker trend as an excuse to be super comfortable on the weekends…but it’s hard to resist wearing them when you know you’ll be spending your day wandering around the West Village! Not quite as easy in four inch heels. These sneakers might be my most worn shoes—great for workouts, shopping excursions, and casual brunches. Considering all the shoes I’ve bought recently are sneakers or flats, my shoe collection may soon be taken over by mostly practical options. My feet aren’t really upset about it.

Rebecca is wearing an Armani Jeans Leather Jacket, Juma FW13 Scarf (c/o Juma; gifted to Renee), Rag & Bone Jeans, Suzanne Arata Half Mitts, Ecco Loafers (c/o Ecco), and Chanel Tritone 2.55 Flap Bag.
Renee, Adrienne, and I have slowly been making Sunday brunch in the West Village a ritual, and with that ritual always comes dessert—a bit of shopping in the gorgeous small boutiques that line each quaint street. Somehow the West Village doesn’t feel like New York… it’s just too pretty. I guess that’s why we need a couple rats and uneven sidewalks like the ones on West 4th to balance it out! This time we ate at Hamilton’s, a vintage fifties-style luncheonette, complete with homemade fountain drinks. We weren’t as impressed with the food, but the decor was pretty fun and oldies classics brightened our otherwise chilly Sunday! After my hamburger and strawberry milkshake, I convinced the girls to go to Aesop, my new obsession. I can’t stop smelling the hand lotion I just bought. It’s the perfect mix of orange, something woody, and something earthy. Adrienne stocked up at Caudalie and Renee browsed Bookmarc. Yes, Marc Jacobs has his own bookstore and yes, he seems to own the West Village with four stores in a three-block radius!
