Hai from Tokyo! I’ve been here for about a week visiting my family over the holidays. My favorite area of Tokyo is probably Ginza, a district that’s known for it’s luxury shopping and historic department stores like Mitsukoshi. It reminds me a lot of Fifth Avenue in NYC, except less hectic and more fun. My mom and I spent a day there this week and headed over to the Mikimoto Pearl store. The store includes a spa, where they use crushed pearl powders in their moisturizers, masks, and makeup. Apparently crushed pearls have amino acids and minerals that are great for anti-inflammation and detoxification. After an amazing 90 minute facial there, I’m definitely a believer! We also tracked down the Dover Street Market, Rei Kawakubo’s conceptual art/design/fashion store that carries everything from Celine to Alexander Wang to, of course, all the Comme des Garcons brands. I’m totally obsessed and can’t wait for the NYC store, which is supposed to open in 2013. Watch out for a lot of CDG Play hearts in our upcoming #WardrobeWednesday posts!
