It’s official: I’m now part of the Armani empire. Just recently, I began working at their New York corporate office as the Department Coordinator of Visual Services, which basically means that I support the visual merchandising team. Despite the stacks of purchase orders and various Lotus Notes debacles I have encountered, I’ve managed to keep organized and am beginning to feel more and more like a part of the company. It’s exciting—this is my first full-time job, and I feel incredibly lucky to have this opportunity right out of school! I couldn’t believe it when I sent my first email and saw my official email signature—what a geek I am, huh?
This past weekend was fun, to say the least. I shopped around for some appropriate work clothes. I toured the Armani stores, including Emporio Armani (Soho), A5A, Armani Collezioni (Midtown), and finally the superluxe Giorgio Armani flagship on Madison on the Upper East Side. What I found was not surprising: totally chic sandals (blue satin with brown crocodile? Yes, please!), amazing silky dress shirts in fantastic colors (LILAC PURPLE!!!), and drool-worthy snakeskin bags. One of my co-workers has a large slouchy snakeskin bag in black… I may just have to follow suit!
